Salty cheese straws or sticks also called in Romanian something like the Salty ones (Sărățele) are an ideal snack for a movie evening but also on a long auto drive. It’s a perfect combination between a sandwich and the German pretzels, or cheese bites.
The cheese used in this recipe is a traditional Romanian recipe but there are similar products in Eastern Europe (and not only):
Greek feta, but also as in the case of Turkish teleme, American teleme cheese, Bulgarian or Macedonian sirene, and Serbian sir.
The cheese is put through an ageing process that makes it crisper, more flavoured and salty. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telemea )
