Spending time with family and loved ones is what Christmas is all about! This year let’s share some fun times not only enjoying the Christmas dinner, but also making it! Let’s bring home some of the fanciness we usually find in the restaurants and combine it with the warmth of our family love. For this episode we will make something different! We are going to make a Snowman cake! The Snowman cake can be served during Christmas, New Year’s Eve or for winter celebrations. But enough with the stories!! The cake
Step 1: - separate the whites from the yolks, but before that, that the butter out of the fridge and keep it at room temperature until the cake is out of the oven. (see step 7)
Step 2: - start gentle whisking the whites with a whisk
Step 3: - move to a faster mixer and continue to whisk the whites. Start adding sugar.
Step 4: - for every 2 spoons of sugar, add 1 spoon of water and continue to whisk/mix the whites
Step 5: - put the bicarbonate in a bowl and add the juice from the lemon. Mix a bit the content and then add it to the whites mixture.
Step 6: - start adding the yolks and keep mixing the content. Add the yolks gradually.
Step 7: - add the flour. Again add it slowly, so that it mixes nicely.
Step 8: - heat the oven at maximum for about 15 minutes. Put the mixture into forms and put the forms into the oven, but lower the temperature to the minimum (90-100 degrees Celsius) for about 5 minutes and then increase the temperature just above minimum (110-120 degrees Celsius)
Step 5: - the cake should bake for one hour and a half. After one hour check to make sure it's not burned (in case the oven is too heated). To make sure it's done, use a straw. Stick the straw into the cake and if it comes out clean, then the cake is done.
Step 6: -let the cake cool for a couple of hours (2-3 hours at least). After it's cooled down, cut the cake into slices about 1cm thick.
Step 7: - while the cake cools down, start mixing the butter.
Step 8: - start adding caster sugar to aerate the butter
Step 9: - add the powder sugar and keep mixing until you can barely taste the caster sugar, then start adding cocoa.
Step 10: - add some flavor to the butter cream by putting mint and orange zelt
Step 11: - start filling the cake
Step 12: - assemble the cake slices
Step 13: - start pouring chocolate on top of the Snowman hat
Step 14: - mix butter with caster sugar, powder sugar but without cocoa for the white cream. You can add some vodka into the mix to lower the fat effect of the butter. This brings acidity to the fat food.
Step 15: - decorate the Snowman with some SNOW ! Put the whipped cream all over the cake!
Step 16: - Add some eyes, nose, mouth and buttons to the Snowman!
Step 16: - Enjoy the Snowman cake !! You can pulverize some cocos flakes for extra effects!
